Arsenal U19 Manager

Arteta scouts U19 Madrid derby ahead of potential Arsenal coaching appointment

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was spotted at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium on Saturday to watch Real Madrid's Under-19s take on Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Youth League.

It is understood that Arteta was there to scout potential targets for his own Under-19s side, but the Spaniard could also be eyeing up a move for one of the coaches in charge of the Real Madrid youngsters.

Arteta is a known admirer of Real Madrid's youth system, and he has already brought in several players from the Spanish club's academy in recent years.

The most notable example is Dani Ceballos, who joined Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid in 2019 and has since made the move permanent.

Arteta has also signed Miguel Azeez, Omar Rekik and Nikolaj Moller from Real Madrid's academy in recent years.

It is possible that Arteta was at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium to watch one of these players in action, but it is also possible that he was there to scout a potential target for his own Under-19s side.

Real Madrid's Under-19s are one of the most successful teams in Europe, and they have produced a number of top players in recent years, including Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Federico Valverde.

If Arteta was impressed with what he saw from Real Madrid's Under-19s on Saturday, it is possible that he could make a move for one of their players in the future.
